2021:
The morning after Mark and Paula arrived back to Brainerd after
a 2037
mile trip to Grand Rapids Michigan. Their Ford Lincoln Nautilus,
with all-wheel drive and a 2.7L engine, gave 30.4 miles per gallon using
regular gas on the first seven-hour leg of the trip to Escanaba,
Michigan. Air conditioning was on most of the way. Mark
said, "This car runs very quiet, with its Bose noise-cancelling system,
and just glides over the road." Changing drivers from time to
time, Mark did about 60% of the driving while Paula drove 40%.
With many stops and cities along the way, it averaged out to 27 miles
per gallon. The trip kept them on the road for 12 nights.
