Wednesday, November 12, 2014:
The narrowest portion of Gilbert Lake froze over during the night.
It was just a thin layer of ice, which was then dusted with a little snow.
 
Plants near the shore had some ice rings and you could see the lake bottom if you looked hard enough.
Yes, winter is here to stay.
 
Friday, November 14, 2014:
Chef Paula prepared a cold weather treat.  It was her famous Puffy Pancake. 
Four eggs mixed with pancake dough and much more made this delight rise in an iron skillet.
 
Bacon added a taste contrast to round out the dish.  Of course, you can't forget maple syrup.  Good thing it's not fattening!
