Sunday, January 8, 2012: (l-r) Bob and Mary Scott, then Paula. It was a sunny day on Mille Lacs Lake near Garrison, Minnesota. Paula's relatives Bob and Mary invited Mark and Paula out for ice fishing. They setup a shelter about 1/4 mile off the west shore of the lake. |
Bob drilled four holes in the 7-inch thick ice.
Paula was worried that the 6-inch diameter hole would not be large enough for the fish she planned on catching that day. |
It wasn't long before Bob brought up a good sized (about
16 inch long) Minnesota
Walleye.
He was a happy guy with a fish that is good eating. |
|
Bob really loves fishing. He is out twice a day
sometimes. Mary and Paula spent the afternoon in the shelter getting caught up on the latest with friends and family. Yes, they were fishing, but the conversation was the important part. |
WOW! an unusual one. This is an
Eelpout,
which is getting more rare nowadays.
You don't eat this one, you throw it back, which he did. |
After almost three hours on the ice, the sun was almost down and the moon was showing across the ice. It was time to pack up. |
Yes, it was a fun fishing day. They told stories
about the nibbles and the fish that got away. Bob and Mary gave the Walleye to Paula. Stay tuned for the next exciting adventure when Chef Paula cooks this one. |
Quote of the day: A fun time was had by all. Mark Just 69 days until St. Patrick's Day. | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
