Monday, October 10, 2011:
Mark walked the steps down to Gilbert Lake from Gilbert
Lodge. They were covered with pine needles.
Why did he go to the lake? |
Mark was headed to the Minnow to take her for the last run of the
season over to a public landing where she could be picked up for winter storage. The Minnow is a 20 foot Misty Harbor pontoon boat with a 40 horse Mercury outboard motor. She is on occasion referred to as the lodge cruise ship. Sometime she gives three hour tours to visitors with the fearless crew of Mark "The Skipper" and Paula "Gilligan" Persons at the helm. |
Along with way he saw birds heading south for the winter. |
When he got to the landing, he discovered that muskrats had built a home of lake grass just ahead of the engine compartment. |
With the grass removed, Butch Hannahs from
Brainerd Sports was
there to do the pickup.
Yes, it was the last cruise of the 2011 summer season. |
Well, that got
Muskrat Hunter Paula
out on the lake to find where the muskrats have been living.....other than in
the back of the Minnow.
Stay tuned for updates on Paula's hunting for the wily creatures. Nice pants, Paula! |
