September 16, 2010: Jon Ring of Baxter stopped by to get rid of some of the muskrats that have been inhabiting the Gilbert Lake shore at Gilbert Lodge. They are a nuisance digging holes in the shoreline and chewing carpeting in the Minnow. One was even found in the engine compartment of the Minnow. We call John the "Muskrat Man." He is very experienced in this matter and even has a Minnesota Department of Natural Resources license to do this kind of work. John is seen here with a smaller muskrat that was caught in a trap overnight. Good work, John! Sorry muskrat! September 18, 2010 update: So far, four muskrats have been trapped and killed. Thanks again to the Muskrat Man. The score: Muskrat Man 4, Muskrats 0. |
September 19, 2010 update: One more dead muskrat discovered by Paula. Nice pants, Paula! The score: Muskrat Man 5, Muskrats 0. |
September 24, 2010 e-mail: Hi Mark and Paula, I just checked in for an update on the adventures of Gilbert Lodge. Paula, you’re quite the trapper! I wouldn’t be surprised to see you investing in another hobby but there are only so many hours in the day. I’m looking forward to some pictures from the big diving party this week-end. Your landscaping is one of my top five ever. I enjoy the preservation and natural look. You guys were so fun to get to know and it is interesting that even though we didn’t know each other, how many connections we have. Your Muskrat Man, Jon Ring. |
Quote of the day: It is nice to call on knowledgeable people to get a job done. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
