Sunday, August 21, 2011: Paula was out SCUBA diving and came back with a fishing lure that she found at the bottom of an iron ore pit near Crosby, Minnesota. She added it to her collection of diving treasures. |
Deep Diver Paula photographed this fish while down below looking for fishing tackle. |
Speaking of fish, Chef Paula prepared salmon alfredo for dinner that night. It was north Atlantic salmon with noodles. |
Putting it all together, it looked like this. A feast fit for a king. |
That evening, Mark and Paula headed out on the Minnow at Gilbert Lake to find more food for dinner. Paula came up with a fish that looked more like bait than a real catch! |
Mark was busy with his rod, but did not do well. |
Paula caught another fish. Hmmm....what bait are you using,
Paula?
Well, it is corn. Brightly colored it is irresistible to fish. Good going, Paula! |

Upon returning to the dock, sometimes referred to as the Gilbert
Lodge pier, they discovered the outboard motor was covered by seaweed.
Mark, do you have a permit to collect these lake plants? Answer: Gosh, I didn't even try to capture it! |
One year ago today: Mark and Paula were shopping in Nisswa, Minnesota. Details |
Quote of the day: Gilbert Lake is a summer paradise. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
