The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Saturday, July 30, 2011:  Chef Paula was busy again the Galley, this time cooking locally-produced bacon.

What was it for?

Well, she made BLT's (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) sandwiches with dark locally-made bread from a farmer's market.  The tomato and lettuce were from there as well.  Added to it were fresh carrots, red peppers, and Jicama (pronounced yee'-cawmaw), which looks like potato, but is a vegetable.
Dessert was raspberries, from the Gilbert Lodge raspberry patch, on ice cream.

After dinner, Mark and Paula strolled through the lodge grounds to see how the wild flowers were doing.  With the wet summer season, they were growing happily indeed.
Do you remember the song, "Daisy a Day" from 1973?
More flowers with great colors.
Gardner Paula planned and worked to get it like this.

Good going, Paula.
