Saturday, July 30, 2011:
Chef Paula was busy again the
Galley, this time cooking locally-produced bacon.
What was it for? |
Well, she made BLT's (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) sandwiches with dark locally-made bread from a farmer's market. The tomato and lettuce were from there as well. Added to it were fresh carrots, red peppers, and Jicama (pronounced yee'-cawmaw), which looks like potato, but is a vegetable. |
Dessert was raspberries, from the Gilbert Lodge raspberry patch, on ice cream. |
After dinner, Mark and Paula strolled through the lodge grounds to see how the wild flowers were doing. With the wet summer season, they were growing happily indeed. |
Do you remember the song, "Daisy a Day" from 1973? |
More flowers with great colors. |
Gardner Paula planned and worked to get it like this.
Good going, Paula. |
Quote of the day: The grounds of Gilbert Lodge were covered with wild flowers. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
