Sunday, July 31, 2011: On this afternoon, gardener Paula was out weeding and inspecting wild flowers on the Gilbert Lodge grounds. |
Bees are seen here frequently gathering honey. |
While Paula was tending to the landscape, Josie was sunning her furs on the screened-in deck. |
Since Josie is often close to Paula, she used a convenient window to look outside from the nook while Paula was reading the book, "1776" by David McCullough. It is about the American Revolutionary War. She is fascinated by this look at the past. |
That evening, Chef Paula prepared a salad from locally-grown ingredients. Hendrickson's Original sweet vinegar and oil dressing is a favorite of guests at the lodge. |
Then on the Promenade Deck grill, she prepared New York strip
steak.
Careful, Paula, it looks like the steak and potato are done! |
On the table, it was terrific with steamed pea pods. |
Quote of the day: Paula does everything. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
