Sunday, March 20, 2011: Since it was still winter outside, Chef Paula Paula decided to make her famous version of American Goulash. It had lean ground beef, onions, celery, and much more. |

She added elbow macaroni, which had been boiled and drained, tomatoes, and cheese before putting it in an oven to cook for an hour. |

While it was cooking, Mark and Paula enjoyed a fire in the Grand Fireplace in the Great Room at the lodge. There is nothing like a wood fire to warm a body on a cold winter day. |

When dinner was ready, Paula served it hot from the oven. |

On the plate with locally canned pickles, carrots, and home-made walnut brulee bread, That bread was made with flower, walnuts, walnut oil, and brown sugar. Everyone agreed it was excellent when topped with real butter. |
Quote of the day: If you think that money can't buy happiness, then you haven't eaten at Gilbert Lodge! Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
