Thursday, November 25, 2010: It is Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble! Residents at Gilbert Lodge woke up to a zero degree outside temperature and clear skies. There had been two inches of snow overnight so Mark "Snowman" Persons went out to clear the driveway with his trusty snow thrower. Yes, he did look like a snowman with snow from head to foot when he finished. Even his eye glasses were snowed over. The things Mark does as a maintenance man at the lodge! Then it was on to watching the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from New York on a large screen in the Great Room. |
Chef Paula, with her cat apron on, was basting a turkey in the Galley at 10:25 AM. Yes, it still needs more cooking before it is right. |
The Thanksgiving turkey was carved about 12:30 PM by Mark. It was steaming hot and smelled wonderful. |
Guests from Paula's side of the family gathered around the dinner table for a feast. (l-r) Mark, Chet, Tom, Paula, Clara, and Darrel. |
Great looking and tasting.
Thanks to Chef Paula. Thanks also go out to Clara and Darrel for the food they brought to the gathering. |
After dinner, it was time for a jam session. Tom on his fiddle and Paula on her Mountain Dulcimer played songs like Golden Slippers. Not exactly rock music, but fun to listen to. |
Live music has a certain quality that is hard to beat. |
