Tuesday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 27, 2010: A fall storm swirled over central Minnesota dumping rain and snow, which measured in as 3.4 inches of water in the official rain gauge at Gilbert Lodge. Barometric pressure dropped to a record low as wind gusts approached 50 miles per hour. Power went out twice and the automatic backup power generator ran for a total of 1/2 hour. |
Chef Paula cooked her famous Hamburger Soup from scratch. It had ground beef, potatoes, celery, carrots, barley, onion, tomatoes and eleven secret ingredients. The soup was great comfort against the storm raging outside the lodge. |
