Saturday, October 23, 2010: It was Oktoberfest time at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge about 15 miles west of Brainerd, MN. Entertainers of many types, including this juggler, were there to have fun. |
Jack Ruttger, owner of Ruttger's, is a good friend of Paula. Thousands of people attend each year for the music, the food, and the crafts. This was the 25th anniversary of the event. |
The Concord Singers, from New Ulm, MN, performed many German songs. They have entertained around the world and are described as "New Ulm's Ambassadors of Good Will." |
Part of the festivities involved Narren, which is a German tradition of wearing costumes including wooden or plaster faces to make the festivities more fun. |
The dancing was a great crowd pleaser. |
Then it was time for the "tapping of the keg." On the right is the great great grand daughter of August Schell representing the Schell's Brewing Company. |
Everyone had a good time in spite of somewhat rainy weather. No, the singers are not being held-up. They are waving while performing. |
Quote of the day: Oktoberfest at Ruttger's comes but once a year. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
