Saturday,
January 9, 2016: Mark and Paula cruised into New
Braunfels, Texas, just in time to catch a Saturday Farmer's
Market. Chef
Paula chose an interesting "gourmet mushroom pasta" from a dozen
kinds that were offered. Who ever heard of that? She will try it out on Mark after
they return to Minnesota. Did you notice the seller is
wearing a heavy coat in 55+ degree temperatures? Mark and Paula
didn't mind the weather. Music is everywhere in Texas.
Everyone has a guitar and wants to sing. There was free
water for dogs, but it was $1 per bottle for humans. |
|
There is a mural on the side of a building in New Braunfels telling the story about Germans settling that part of Texas in 1845. |
Chevy cars, horse drawn carriages, and
a stage coach were all headed to San Antonio for the music and the River
Walk. |
Yes, the River
Walk is full of tourists on the walk and in boats. People
are naturally attracted to water. Wow!! there are 90 minutes more sunlight at San Antonio in January than in Brainerd, MN. |
||
Lots of eating places along the River Walk. Plenty of Texas and Tex-Mex food. | ||
How could anyone
pass up dinner like that? |
There are lit
carriages to see the town in at night. Yes, it is OK to
pet the horses. |
The River Walk can be seen from the water as well. A popular tourist thing to do. |
More to see in San Antonio, deep in the heart of Texas. Stay tuned. |
Quote of the day: San Antonio lives up to its name. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
