Monday, March 4, 2013: Deep Diver
Paula was out SCUBA diving again on Little Cayman Island. With the divers is a Nassau grouper. |
Blue tang. There is a lot to see. |
A foureye butterfish. The underwater world is fascinating to her. |
Porcupine fish. You don't see those around Brainerd. |
Yes, it has eyes and is a peacock flounder. |
Tarpon swimming in unison. |
Ocean tiggerfish. The sea of full of them. |
Noon e-mail from Paula:
Hi Hon: Got on two dives so far today. Blue Hole was the first dive.
Lots of Goliath Groupers of a nice size. Not as much color as I remember.
Second was to Gay's Reef where at the end of the dive there were two porcupine
fish chasing one another. Was very fun to watch them. They have wonderful
salads, a cheddar/olive/rice cake for lunch. Even got to try the triple
chocolate cake for desert.
Love, Paula Evening e-mail from Paula: Three good dives today. Not as good as Bloody Bay Wall but at least we are in the water. Went to Blue Hole this morning and did a swim through. Came out at 102 ft. below the surface. Saw some nice Nassau Groupers on this dive. Second dive was to Gay's Reef. At the end there was a male following a female porcupine fish. They were really moving. Had a nice lunch and back to Grundy's Reef and Wall for a 47 foot dive. Saw a juvenile green razorback which is about 1/2 inch large. Been windy here so not to bloody bay wall yet but hear rumors we will get there Wednesday if not tomorrow. Temps in the low 80's, water temp is 79. Had to wear long pants last night and long sleeves, bummer but then it isn't 12 inches of snow. Brought flashlights back tonight to check the fish under the dock. Had a shark there a couple nights ago. Been so cool that the iguanas didn't come out until afternoon. However, the resident cat has shown up each day. Love, Paula |
Quote of the day: Paula is diving in warm weather while it is snowing in Brainerd. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
