22, 2013:
Paula was off again canoeing in the Pacific Ocean with a few other dedicated canoeists. |
She was worn out by late morning and fell asleep reading her
Kindle. Paula really was getting into this Hawaiian thing. Lunch was prepared by Jean. Always a great chef, she served tuna salad Hawaiian style. |
Finally after lunch it was time to bid farewell to Jean and Dave
Schaeffer. Jean used the Hawaiian happy hand gesture. They were terrific hosts to Mark and Paula during their stay on the island. Time to head home. |
A flower on the right side of a woman means she is
single. Paula couldn't resist giving a good-bye kiss to Captain Jack. |
Paula took a long last look before
heading for dinner. |
Mark and Paula enjoyed their
"last supper" in Hawaii at Quinn's, which is billed as "Almost By the Sea." First they ordered two kinds of Hawaiian beer and then dug into Ono fish, which is a Hawaiian favorite. |
They couldn't help but stop for some Hawaiian ice cream to tide
her over. Mark had Chocolate Macadamia Nut and Paula chose Kona Chocolate ice cream. |
This lad was fishing late in the afternoon hoping
for a big one. |

Hawaiian dugout canoes often go out
to view a sunset from the sea. |
Then if was off the an airport for a 20 hour journey home.
There are no covered jet ways for boarding planes in Hawaii. The weather is so good that they don't need them. No outside doors on buildings either. Paula is looking for the cookbook Kona on My Plate. It is a great title and is out of print. She wants to try some Hawaiian cooking at home. Mark had time to think about the world and decided to write a book about his life. Don't worry, he won't be selling it to anyone. It will be a good exercise in writing, he says! |
