The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Thursday, January 17, 2013:  Jean Schaeffer and Paula decided to go canoeing on the Pacific Ocean early in the morning.

Paula brought along a coconut in case the canoe sank and she had to hang onto something.

Off they went.

Paula is in a beige hat second from the back on the left.

While out there, she reported seeing whales.

Friendly whales that is!

They returned to shore none the worse for the wear except they were hungry.
Jean prepared papaya by first removing the seeds.  Each is served with some fresh lime, which you squeeze onto the fruit before digging in.
It is a little like cantaloupe, only softer and better.   Bon appetite!

Plenty to see along the shore at Kona.

Then it was off to another national park.  This time just south of Kona.

Tiki statues are seen everywhere in Hawaii...especially along the sea coast.

A Hawaiian shelter does not need walls on all sides.  This one overlooks the sea and keeps the sun off visitors.

Paula discovered a crab on a rock.  She is very much in tune with the sea.

Paula used her trusty Canon S90 Camera to catch the sunset on the Kona side of the island.

She uses that same camera underwater on her scuba diving expeditions.

Sunset that day was worth seeing as waves crashed on the shoreline.

The Hawaiian adventure continues.

Quote of the day:  Hawaii is a magical place.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
