Thursday, November 22, 2012: It is Thanksgiving. Chef Paula was busy in the Galley preparing turkey, dressing, pies and much more for the day.
Meanwhile, the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade was being broadcast on CBS
television. Great stuff. A lot of excited people. |
The Thanksgiving turkey with home made dressing, cranberries, squash,
and much more were served. A feast fit for a king.
(l-r) Mark, Paula's first cousin once removed Tom Lingwall, Paula, Clara Johnson, and Darrold Lingwall also a cousin. Tom's girlfriend Marilyn Kreiner was out of town so she could not be with the group at Gilbert Lodge. |

Then it was time for a music "jam session" with Darrold on a mandolin,
Tom on a violin, and Paula on her mountain dulcimer. All of that in front of a roaring fire in the Grand Fireplace. Meanwhile it started snowing outside. Winter is here. Songs included Turkey in the Straw. Also performed was Ashokan Farewell. It is the hauntingly beautiful song used in The Civil War on PBS, produced by Ken Burns. |

Later Paula and Mark headed over to see Mark's mom June who was telling
stories making Paula laugh. Piano music was provided by Elissa Hannu. Music was everywhere. |
Quote of the day: Thanksgiving comes only once a year. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
