The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Wednesday, September 5, 2012:  It was time to bid farewell to Washington Island and all it's charms.
To "escape" the island, a ferry boat takes cars and passengers across about six miles of water.   Mark even got a tour of the engine room.  No special security problems here.

Mark wore his sailor shirt with nautical references for the crossing that day.

In the photo above, he is pointing out a depth charge for use if the Loch Ness Monster appears.

This device is cleverly marked as a "life raft."

Then it was off to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay, Wisconsin.

But what's this?  There is grass on the roof of the place.  A closer look revealed Billy Goats keeping the roof grass trimmed.

What will they think of next?

Don't try ordering a hamburger at this place.

It has a Swedish menu with great Swedish food.

Quote of the day:  You can't eat too much good Swedish food.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
