Monday, May 28, 2012: It was
Memorial Day.
A time to honor members of our armed services who fought and died for our
country. A huge flag hung from a ladder truck at the Brainerd Fire Department. |
Ceremonies were held on the Laurel Street Bridge in Brainerd. |
We salute these soldiers for their willingness to serve in times like this. |
Emotions run high whenever a bugler plays taps.
This man is Marty Judd, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. |
A parade headed to the north side of Brainerd led by a color guard. |
Music was well done by high school students...they looked good too. |
Ceremonies for many hundreds were held at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. | ||
The keynote speaker was Congressman Chip Cravaack, who is a retired Navy pilot. He was exceptionally well spoken about why Memorial Day is so important to everyone. |
Evergreen Cemetery is a place to reflect on what others have done to make freedom possible for us. |
Quote of the day: Memorial Day is a day to remember. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
