Report from Roatan:  Did some research and reformatted the card in my camera and it seems to be working.  Tom may have an extra small camera memory card that I might try if I still have problems.  He flooded his camera the first or second day.  Bummer.

We have not had power since last night.  No water either so I am on battery power for the computer.  First dive yesterday jumped in the water and within five minutes the lens fell out of my mask.  It is certainly gone at this point.  Noticed the mask was cracked in two spots.  Have a feeling that when they changed out tanks they dropped one on my mask.  Will see if Dan or our homeowners insurance will cover the loss.  Fortunately the dive master gave me his mask and I was able to complete the dive.  Really couldn’t see much but it wasn’t the best dive for anyone so no great loss.  As Leslie said the site rather underwhelmed her.  I ran back to the room and grabbed my old mask which has a prescription in it so it works.  Only thing I really notice is that I cannot read the tiny print on my camera to change the shutter speed underwater.  No serious loss there.

Evening dive was neat to find an octopus.  It was crawling across the sea bottom and Leslie and I were the only two to observe so we really got to see it in action.  Have really good dive masters which makes the dives so nice.  Been hanging out with basically the same people the whole trip.  Two couples from Little Falls and Leslie.  We get along great.  Don’t know if I told you Tom ate half my dinner by accident Monday night.  They gave it to him and nobody realized it until the meal was done.  Thus I ate part of Leslies which she couldn’t finish.  We travel well together.

No sand flea bites yet,  stomach is fine and feeling great.  Having a wonderful time.  Rustic but not nearly as bad as I had anticipated.  The food has been really good averaging about $24 a night but I don’t drink.  Will send this tonight when hopefully we will have power back.  Even the generator won’t work.

Love you and starting to miss home.  Enjoying the e-mail updates.  Time is short here.  Come back by the time I get the photos downloaded and my log done it is well over an hour and then off to eat.  Meals take at least a couple of hours so I really don’t have any down time.  But, do enjoy hearing from you and what is happening.  Glad you are getting your walks in and petting Josie.  So are you telling me your cooking is better than mine because you are gaining weight?  I am probably gaining as well.  We have gone through one pound of M & M’s and starting on the second.  Really glad I brought the instant oatmeal as it has bailed me out several mornings now.

Having rain again today.  Had quite the rain on the boat yesterday just before noon.  But, it really hasn’t hampered us much other than the fact that the road which they are working on is pure "slippery muck."  Raving beauties we are not after tugging through the mud in our wetsuits and sandals.  Looks like I will skip the Rotary meeting so we can go out as a dive group tomorrow at the Lighthouse.  Had a nice shrimp meal there toward the beginning of the trip.

Quote of the day:  And think of it, Paula WANTED to go on this trip.  Mark    Just 17 days until St. Patrick's Day. < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
