Blue tangs swimming by as Paula dives near Roatan. |
E-mail from Deep Diver Paula: Forgot to mention that on the Monday dive afternoon paired with Leslie and Margaret. At the end of the dive we surfaced to find out we had come up under the WRONG boat. So much for our drift dive. We had to swim a ways to get onto our boat. Oh well.Tuesday, what a day! First the card in the camera was full and locked up. Removed the memory card, installed in my computer and deleted all images. Then I could take photos again. Problem solved. Went to breakfast put on by Nancy a local woman. First dive about three minutes into the dive at Spooky Channel the lens fell out of my mask. Dive master couldn’t figure why I had my mask off. Then he saw and handed me his mask. I continued on, granted couldn’t see very well because the temporary mask did not have corrective lenses for my eyes. However, I was able to see the starfish...my first. Also saw a huge mass of blue tang fish which looked like a swarm of black. Very cool.

Came into shore and ran back to the room to get my spare mask. We then headed out to the Jolly Roger site. Got a nice photo of a smooth trunkfish. Saw a really huge group of sergeant major fish in about 10 to 12 ft of water toward the end of the dive. Started at about 45 feet and ended about 20 ft. Just as we were leaving the water there were two squid. Started the day wrong but ended nice. We have the afternoon off and will be heading out for a night dive at 5:30 PM. Will see what we end up doing for dinner this evening. Might go to a Rotary meeting while here. The dive master owns a non-profit business and his partner is a Rotarian. Their meeting is Thursday evening. Might just try and go. Everyone is asking how the weather is back home. Having a great time. So glad I came. xxx ooo Paula (hummingbird in a nest) |

Quote of the day: Paula is at home in the water as fish are. Mark Just 18 days until St. Patrick's Day. | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
