         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons
Thursday December 8, 2011: It was a bright sunny day.  There was light snow on ice at Gilbert Lake that was pushed into interesting patterns by moderate winds.  The ice was as blue or bluer than the sky in this "Land of Sky Blue Waters." 
Sunset comes just after 4 PM at this time of the year. 

There was a horrendous CRACKING sound while Mark was taking the photo.  It was lake ice cracking as the temperature was changing.  The event was quite evident as the sound started on the left and progressed northward up the lake over a matter of three seconds.  That's Minnesota!
(l-r) Dave and Jean Schaeffer joined Paula and Mark for dinner at The Lodge in Baxter.  Chef Paula had the night off.  Over the years, Dave was a U. S. Air Force B-52 pilot and a pilot for Northwest Airline, now Delta Airline.  Now retired, the Schaeffers have many interesting stories to relate.
