Thursday, November 24, 2011: Mark and Paula were invited to the Paul and Teresa Hirst home for Thanksgiving. (l-r) Paula, Newell, Elena, Kirsten, Teresa, and Paul. They played games while waiting for the turkey to be done. |
It was even fun putting a puzzle together. Paula is always right there where the action is. |
Paul's job was to cook the turkey and get it ready for serving. |
Elena prepared the dinner rolls. They tasted even better than they looked. Paula really liked them and was hoping to get the recipe. |
The turkey with gravy was
laid out next to twice-baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top.
Wow...what a treat that was. |
The dinner table was a
feast fit for a king. The apple pie and salads that Paula made in
the last episode of this blog were a part of this meal. Mark was the photographer so he didn't get into the photo. |
After dinner, the crew walked over to Gilbert Lodge where the ice was just thick enough to walk on. Everyone had a great time in the unseasonably warm weather. | |
On the ice and along the shore, they discovered animal tracks. Does anyone know what animal belongs to these? |
The Hirst youngsters wanted to checkout the newly installed library ladder at Gilbert Lodge. They approved after testing it for sturdiness |
Back at the Hirst Castle, Elena served dessert. It consisted of three kinds of pie with home-made ice cream on top. Now you're talking! |
From there, Mark and Paula
went to visit Mark's mom June. She is doing very well at age
95-1/2.
It is good to see friends and family on Thanksgiving. Everyone was thankful for something. |
Quote of the day: Thanksgiving comes but once a year. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
