The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Thursday, November 24, 2011:   Mark and Paula were invited to the Paul and Teresa Hirst home for Thanksgiving.  (l-r) Paula, Newell, Elena, Kirsten, Teresa, and Paul.  They played games while waiting for the turkey to be done.

It was even fun putting a puzzle together.  Paula is always right there where the action is.
Paul's job was to cook the turkey and get it ready for serving.
Elena prepared the dinner rolls.  They tasted even better than they looked.  Paula really liked them and was hoping to get the recipe.
The turkey with gravy was laid out next to twice-baked sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top.

Wow...what a treat that was.

The dinner table was a feast fit for a king.  The apple pie and salads that Paula made in the last episode of this blog were a part of this meal.

Mark was the photographer so he didn't get into the photo.

After dinner, the crew walked over to Gilbert Lodge where the ice was just thick enough to walk on.  Everyone had a great time in the unseasonably warm weather.
On the ice and along the shore, they discovered animal tracks.  Does anyone know what animal belongs to these?
The Hirst youngsters wanted to checkout the newly installed library ladder at Gilbert Lodge.  They approved after testing it for sturdiness

Back at the Hirst Castle, Elena served dessert.  It consisted of three kinds of pie with home-made ice cream on top.  Now you're talking!

From there, Mark and Paula went to visit Mark's mom June.  She is doing very well at age 95-1/2.

It is good to see friends and family on Thanksgiving.  Everyone was thankful for something.
