Sunday, September 18, 2011: There was a welcome home gathering for Vietnam veterans at Camp Ripley, just south of Brainerd. |
The Minnesota Military Museum at the camp showed many exhibits of that war half way around the world in the jungles of southeast Asia. |
More exhibits from that war of 40 years ago. |
Some 350 Vietnam veterans were loaded on busses and brought into the reception area to cheering crowds. It was the welcome home that they did not get in those many years ago. |
|
|
Mark is a Vietnam veteran. He came off one of the busses waving a flag and glad to be home. |
There were bagpipes to help with the celebration. |
Colonel St. Sauver, Post Commander of Camp Ripley, gave an emotional speech thanking Vietnam veterans who, 'Stepped up and answered the call to serve our country." |
Current military were there that day as well. My they look young. |
Justin and daughter Logan, friends of Paula, were there with flags too. |
Quote of the day: Thanks for the welcome back. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
