The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Saturday, July 23, 2011:  An early morning storm dropped 1.3 inches of rain in less than two hours at Gilbert Lodge.  Lightning caused a power outage to a large part of Brainerd for 2.5 hours.

Later in the morning, Deep Diver Paula went diving at Portsmouth, a mine pit near Crosby, MN.  This bass seemed to be asking for help.  He swam near Paula for the longest time.  Unfortunately there was no way she could catch him to remove the lure from his mouth.

Paula ran into the thermo cline.  Her dive buddy, Leslie, is shown with her head above and legs below.  The milky coloring is the thermo cline.  There is quite a temperature difference between the two.  It is the strangest thing....eerie

The iron ore pit had many rock bass in very shallow waters.
This creature was lurking around.  They thought it was a fish and finally recognized it as a painted turtle.  However, he was camera shy and wouldn't stay still for a photo.

Quote of the day:  Diving -- its the pits.  Paula < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
