Wednesday, July 20, 2011: Chef Paula was busy in the Galley at Gilbert Lodge. Earlier in the day she had picked up some summer squash at a farmer's market in Brainerd. Well, she wasn't sure what it was, but it looked good. Along with other fruits and vegetables, she returned to the lodge ready to cook. Hmmm, what is she preparing? |
Well, it was shish kabob cooked on the grill at the Promenade Deck. What made this one interesting was deer venison from Tom and Darrold Lingwall. This is lean meat. Paula prepared a marinade to further enhance the flavor. |
On the table with a potato it was just right on that summer day. |
The dessert was angel food cake with fresh strawberries from a farmers' market and whipped cream. It was just the right ending to a great meal. |
Quote of the day: It doesn't need to be too fattening to taste good. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
