Wednesday, April 27, 2011: Good grief...snow again! Can you believe that? The good news is that no snow accumulated on the ground and 0.3" of water soaked in to reduce the fire danger. |

Thursday, April 28, 2011: The sun finally came out and Gilbert Lake looked like a Minnesota fishing lake again. It is about time! Even hearty-Minnesotans were getting a bit cranky about this late spring weather. |
Chef Paula decided to use a gas grill on the Promenade Deck at Gilbert Lodge to prepare fresh Pacific salmon for dinner. A little lemon juice always helps. |
A good garden salad with Romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and celery was served. It was topped with ranch dressing. |
Finally the "piece de resistance" was served. The salmon went very well with a mix of white and wild rice. Seasoned with Old Bay, dill weed, and a bit of lemon juice, it was excellent. Carrots and green beans were the last food group on this plate. |
Out for a walk that night, Mark and Paula spotted many birds, which had recently arrived for the summer season. |
