Friday, April 1, 2011: A Celebration of Nations festival was held at the Central Lakes College in Brainerd, Minnesota. This was the second annual event of this kind and it was attended by many hundreds of people. The gathering was billed as a "one-stop shop/travel experience." |

There was dancing while a German polka band played. |

Paula couldn't pass up the opportunity to try "group skiing." It ended in disaster a few times until they got the hang of it. |

Some people had temporary tattoos applied. |

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwa put on a drum dance that was well done. |

Paula learned more about Uganda in an authentic African hut. |

Later, a Scandinavian band played to the delight of the crowd. |

Mike Hamad of Brainerd displayed information about his birthplace in the Mideast. |

Jane Mathies-Holtan and Nealna Gylling showed Danish items while wearing authentic dress. |
On this day in 2003, digging began for the foundation of Gilbert Lodge. |
