The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Wednesday, February 23, 2011:  Deep Diver Paula was out again at Grand Cayman Island.  She saw these horse-eyed jacks coming through an opening in the coral.
A spotted moray eel came out to see Paula.  Hmmm....the eel said....what kind of sea creature is this Paula?
A rock beauty.  My there are a lot of fish species at Grand Cayman!
This is a Christmas tree worm.
A trigger fish.  Very interesting color.
Turtles were abundant in the warm waters.
A peacock flounder.  The wild life never ends.

Thursday, February 24, 2011 e-mail from Deep Diver Paula:   You would love the roosters.  After Hurricane Ivan they got loose and are all over the island.  They wake most everyone up each morning.  Went to Dolphin Point Drop Off for a deep dive of 100 ft for 35 minutes.  Then on a guided tour by Andrew.  Different captain and crew this time.  Again the young couple and us guided by Andrew.  Went to Dolphin Point Drop Off.  I was able to see a spotted eel and showed it off to the young man.  Many blue tang fish and French angel fish on this dive.  Many colorful sponges.

Second dive was to Pageant Beach Reef for sixty minutes at 40 ft. max.  Went off to the right swinging around to the front of the boat.  Then later in the dive poked in the canyons.  Saw a lion fish walking on the bottom.  Many horse-eyed jacks were going in and out of the small canyons.   Leslie pointed out a juvenile drum fish.  Many schools of horse-eyed jacks.  Very shallow so was able to do a safety stop while still on the reef.

Getting to know different divers at the resort.  Had our evening meal with Fred, Judy and Steve last night.  Afternoon dive with Wayne and Paul from Minnesota.  Went out from the resort.  Saw two turtles, two peacock founders, a southern stingray, juvenile drumfish, spotted moray eel, juvenile grey angle, queen trigger, rainbow parrot, porcupine fish, honeycomb cowfish.  Not bad for an afternoon dive.

Love and miss you.  XXXOOO  Deep Diver Paula

Only 21 days until St. Patrick's Day.

Quote of the day:  I think Paula was born with webbing between her toes to help her swim.   Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
