         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

August 22, 2010:  Jim and Mary Zastrow stopped by Gilbert Lodge after spending six weeks on the Alcan Highway to Alaska and back.  There were plenty of stories to relate about the trip and the people they met along the way.

Here they are still looking good and they haven't even made it home yet.  Living near Wausau, WI, there is another day of travel ahead.  See photos of their adventure at: http://mezastrow.blogspot.com 

Josie the cat was a bit worried about Sophie, the Zastrow dog.  It all worked out fine.  Sophie is happy-go-lucky and Josie didn't get TOO far bent out of shape.    
After a good lunch, served by Chef Paula, the travelers went out for a ride on Gilbert Lake aboard the Minnow.  The weather was perfect.   

Jim and Mary were childhood sweethearts and are now happily retired after many years of marriage.

Along the way, they saw a seagull looking for food.

A Minnesota loon was looking for dinner too.  Great stuff!
