December 31, 2009:  Kids are ice skating on Gilbert Lake near Gilbert Lodge.  Difficult to see it exactly, but all three are jumping simultaneously to show off for the camera. 

Note the crack in the lake ice.  This is every common on Minnesota ice and is of no concern.  If you are on the lake when it happens, you hear a huge cracking noise.  The Minnesota fun continues.

Cousins, who have not seen each other for two years, are together with Jax the dog.  Jax is especially well mannered and great to be around.

It is sunset and time to head in. 

There was a roaring fire in the Grand Fireplace at Gilbert Lodge after dark.

Chef Paula served a dinner of steak and potatoes to get us ready for the new year. 

It was clear and below zero on New Years Eve.   A full moon shown brightly over the Christmas  Star on the tower at Gilbert Lodge.
