Thursday,
November 7, 2019: There is
music everywhere in New Mexico. |
The landscape is dotted with homes
near hills. |
The
Kit Carson
Home and Museum in Taos, NM. Carson (1809-1868) was a
frontiersman, mountain man, fur trapper, wilderness guide, Indian agent
and U.S. Army officer. He was portrayed, by writers, as a living
legend. The
drawing on the left came from a book, done by an artist who never met
Carson. The painting on the right shows him in his later years.
Carson died at age 59. |
Mark and Paula came across the
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, about ten miles from Taos, MN. |
Paula was a bit nervous on the
bridge. She is fine 120 feet underwater, but not 600 feet above
the Rio Grande River. |
Yes, it is a long ways down
with the river below. |
Not far from the bridge, they spotted
an
Earthship along New
Mexico Highway 64. These off-the-grid homes are scattered across
the landscape. |
New Mexico has a lot of wide-open
terrain. |
The Gorge Bridge, as seen from 25,000 feet, as Mark and Paula flew back to Gilbert Lodge the next day. |
Quote of the day: New Mexico was a fun place to visit. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
