Saturday,
March 2, 2019: The Annual Polar Plunge was held at
Breezy Point, MN. The event raises money for Special Olympics Minnesota. |
||
It all starts with a costume judging contest. Even Sherlock Holmes showed up. |
The oldest jumper was Chuck Hanson from the
Brainerd VFW.
You see him in the left photo with Tess and Mac from Hubbard Radio. Chuck was an Air Force Para rescue diver and received a silver star for saving a downed pilot while under enemy fire in Vietnam. The youngest, on the right was interviewed by Tess. |
People willingly jumped through a hole in the ice into freezing water on
Pelican Lake. Ouch! |
Police officers were first to show it could be done, much a sergeant in
the army. Some took a flying leap. |
One hundred or more spectators watched as their loved ones and
friends took the plunge. |
See, it wasn't so bad after all. |
One policeman, dripping wet, did high-fives with spectators. |
Quote of the day: Too cold for me. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
