Thursday, November 29, 2018:  Mark and Paula found themselves in St. Louis, MO.
They learned the Gateway Arch is taller than many other notable buildings, so they decided to check it out.

They traveled up in a small elevator and found people looking out from the top of the arch.
The Mississippi River side as seen from the arch.
Barges were being pushed upstream.
Some 630 feet below, two riverboats wait to take passengers out on the river.
The city side of the arch.
Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
The light was fading as cars were heading into and out of the city.
An exhibit told the story of the building of the arch from 1963 to 1965.  A real engineering effort.

Quote of the day:     All a part of our road trip.  Stay tuned.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
