Wednesday, June 6, 2018:
This is how you get
around in London, England. The British pound is equal to about $1.31. It varies from day to day. The coins are Pence, something like a penny. They come in 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50. An Oyster card is for underground transportation in tubes (subways). A London Pass gets you into many museums and on some transportation. Very handy to have. |
To take a tube, you
need to head underground. |
Or, you can take a
boat down the River Thames. Mark and Paula did that on this day in London. |
The captain was a
well-seasoned boat master. He looks nothing like the captain of the
Titanic. |
The boat headed down
the Thames and under the famous Tower Bridge with people waving. More on
that later. |
(l-r) They went past the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, which was
covered by scaffolding for a renovation project. |
Plenty of tourists.
Almost all wanted their photo taken. |
There are some
high-speed rubber boats for thrill seekers. |
The river has homes and
businesses along both sides, with lots of boat traffic in the middle. |
Drop anchor, let's see what this is all about! That looks like the Cutty Sark. We must be in Greenwich, England! |
Quote of the day: Stay tuned to the next exciting episode. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
