Saturday, May 5, 2018:
The early
morning hours before sunrise at Duluth, Minnesota. Fishermen were headed out onto Lake Superior from a lighthouse at the Aerial Bridge. |
The sun was
coming up as more fishermen left the port. |
Many fishermen tried
their luck from the south pier at the bridge. |
The
James R. Baker came through hauling taconite ore in mid-day. |
Vessels of all
sizes go under the Aerial Bridge. Each to his own. |
More
interesting transportation.
Segways are
becoming a popular way to get around. |
The
American Spirit came in that day. She is a 1000 footer
displacing 16,000 tons plus 62,000 tons of cargo when fully loaded. The ship dwarfed onlookers standing at a pier under the Aerial Bridge. |
More fishermen
headed out that day with twin 150 horse Mercury outboard motors.
They passed by the South Pier Inn where Mark and Paula often stay when in Duluth. |
Quote of the day: Duluth is a fun place. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
