Thursday, February 1, 2018:
A view from Highway 61, along the north shore of Lake Superior, on this cold
winter day. |
Morning
fog was rising from the lake around this peninsula. |
Another stop at the Grand Portage visitor center to learn more Indian history. |
Imagine that...living in a birchbark tent. It was a way of life for many
centuries. Very interesting. |
The
Dynamic Duo of Mark and Paula Persons found themselves at the border with
Canada. |
Camera Bug Paula was busy taking photos of
High Falls at the border. |
The
falls were almost completely frozen over. Some water was flowing behind
the ice and out the bottom. |
This is
what it looked like earlier in the year before freezing. |
Then it
was down the shore of Lake Superior on the way to Brainerd. |
Yes,
Highway 61 along the north shore is a beautiful place summer and winter. |
Upon
returning to Brainerd, Mark and Paula discovered the Dairy Queen had just
opened. |
Yes, it
is the first sign of spring when the DQ is serving ice cream, even when there is
snow on the ground. |
Quote of the day: Who would have thought that going north in winter makes sense? Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
