Monday, January 29, 2018:
Mark and Paula
headed to Duluth, Minnesota, to see ice along the north shore of Lake Superior. |
Ice was pushed to the shore by easterly winds that
day. Paula was trying to figure it out. |
Ice
further up the shore had a character all until itself. |
Water/ice stuck on almost anything it came in contact with. |
Paula
liked seeing inch-thick lake ice that had frozen like glass and then was broken
as it was pushed ashore. |
The ice
came right up to the road at some points. |
Ice on
the south shore of Lake Superior was thicker and more interesting in some
locations. |
Paula
discovered an area where people put locks with messages. It is not far from the Aerial Bridge. One lock had been dated just three days before. |
Then it
was off to the Dubh Linn Brew
Pub in downtown Duluth. |
It sure
looked like a genuine Irish Pub. |
Paula
was busy kibitzing with the staff while Mark was calling Ireland to verify the
authenticity of this place. |
The
answer was yes, it is a real Irish Pub....so they ordered dinner. Paula went for Fish n' Chips. Mark opted for Bangers (Irish sausage) and Mash (potatoes). Now, that's Irish food. |
The
streets in Duluth had vapor rising from the city sewer system. It reminded
Mark of downtown New York. |
A view
of the hill at Duluth from the bay on the south side. |
The Aerial Bridge was brightly lit. It stood tall and proud for everyone
to see. |
Quote of the day: Stay tuned for more Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
