Monday, August 21, 2017: What were all these people looking at?
Well, it was a solar eclipse where the moon moved in front of the sun.

That day in Brainerd was overcast so the photos did not turn out as well as hoped.

Cars were going with headlamps on for good reason.  Some 80% of the sun's light was blocked by the moon.

Yes, people everywhere were donning special eclipse safe glasses to see the event.  The town was abuzz with it.

The sky turned a bit dark, in the middle of the day.  It was 1:04 pm in Brainerd, MN, to be exact.

The moon moved from being on the lower right side of the sun to being on the lower left side of the sun.

Still more watching.  Can you get neck strain from doing that?

It was a short lived event, lasting less than an hour, before the sun returned.
The next solar eclipse in North America will be on April 8, 2024.

Quote of the day:    People will remember this for a while.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
