Sunday,
May 22, 2016:
Mark and Paula traveled to Galesburg,
Illinois. They found a local cemetery to be a peaceful place, as most cemeteries are. |
It took a bit of searching, but Paula
finally found the gravestone from a long lost relative.
She has been working on family history. The story of this
town was that it was the place where a family of her relatives
left and headed to Rapid City, South Dakota, in the late 1800s.
Both adults died in the Dakotas leaving the youngsters.
The oldest, an 11 year old boy, put his siblings in a covered
wagon and brought them back to this town. So far, Paula
has traced her lineage back to the American Revolution. |
Then it was off to a local bistro, an Irish place at that, for some good Irish food. |
Mark was happy to be in the
company of two young ladies. Paula and the waitress, a
veteran of a Gulf war. Mark doesn't remember Army veterans looking so good before. |
Quote of the day: I wish I was Irish. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
