Thursday,
January 14, 2016:
Mark and Paula attended a tribute to Carpenters music (1969 to 1983) at Central Lakes College. It was performed by a band that had done well with other music, but really zoomed into fame with Carpenters music.
|
|
The music of Karen and Richard
Carpenter
resonated through the theatre with the audience singing
along. |
|
It
was a packed house for two performances. The audience and
performers hummed along with fiddle music. Karen Carpenter died in 1983, but this group is keeping the music alive. |
|
The group included an electric guitar. Lots of audience
applause. Songs included Close To You, Yesterday Once
More, Top of the World, We've Only Just Begun, Rainy Days And
Mondays, Goodbye To Love, Please Mister Postman, For All We
Know, I Won't Last A Day Without You, and much more. |
|
This group performed
Carpenters music note for note the way it was cut to record many
years ago. The audience loved it. There were two standing ovations. |
Quote of the day: Paula and I hummed Carpenters music for a week afterward. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
