Friday,
November 13, 2015:
Pastry Chef Paula was
in the Grand Bakery at Gilbert Lodge baking Christmas cookies. It is a little early, but she wanted to get into practice for the holiday season. Paula was laughing and singing because she loves to bake. |
|
Each cookie is rolled, flattened, and flattened again
with a fork. In they oven they went. |
|
After ten minutes in the oven, they
were set out to cool, and then some were frosted with powdered sugar. Ginger snap coolies don't need frosting, they look and taste just right as they are. |
|
Then Chef Paula moved on to cutout
cookies. Mark had to try one to make sure it tasted just
right....it did!
|
Temperatures were in the 50s with clear skies on Sunday
afternoon. It was time to put the Christmas Star. Nice view of Gilbert Lodge, with the lake in the background, from the 65 foot communications tower. |
Ground Crew Paula connected the star while Tower Climber Mark was
atop the tower. She is seen in the upper right of the photo, way down on
the ground. Yes, it is fall so there are quite a few brown/orange leaves on the ground. Mark....you're supposed to polish your shoes! Answer: "I can't right now, I am busy on the tower." |
The star and streamers showed brightly just after sunset. They will be dark until Thanksgiving evening. Look for them then until Christmas after dark. |
Quote of the day: Veterans - Defenders of freedom. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
