The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Wednesday, November 11, 2015:  (l-r) Lon Schmidt, Lyle Amundson, and Mark Persons celebrated Veterans Day with a free meal at Applebees in Brainerd.
Lon served in the U. S. Air Force in Alaska and then went on to work many years in radio as a morning personality.
Lyle was a U. S. Army guy who handled NATO communications in Europe.
Mark spent three years in the U. S. Army, serving one year in Vietnam.

The waitress was wearing a Veterans Day shirt.  Nicely done.

Many people in town were showing the flag on that day.

Many veterans were in evidence too.  We thank them for their service.

War veterans usually buy and drive American brand automobiles.  They proudly display American patriotism.

There is a look that you see in a veteran's eyes.  A sense of right in the world.

These are the guys who believe in America.

Later that day, Mark and Paula were seen at a complimentary dinner for veterans.
The men paid for their wives' dinners and left a big tip.  It was the right thing to do.

They were with good friends Jean and Dave Schaeffer.

Dave was a U. S. Air Force B-52 pilot back in the 1950s.

Photos of Mark when he was in Vietnam and Dave when he was getting into a fighter airplane way back then.  See, they haven't changed a bit!
