Tuesday, July 28, 2015: Mark and Paula boarded a Let's Go Fishing cruise. They paid the way to have six members from Teen Challenge in Brainerd go fishing that night. The interesting part is that Brainerd Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1647 is one of the sponsors of this project. Boat operators Gary Phillips and Dave Dahlquist were seen pointing to the VFW logo on the boat that night. Let's Go Fishing is a community service that provides fishing experiences to older adults, veterans, the disabled and youth, mostly on a free basis. |
Then it was out on Bay Lake to find the elusive fish. Hmmmm....where are they? |
Mark and Paula caught maybe a dozen fish that night. The rest did well too. Mark is a member of the Brainerd VFW. He was wearing an Army green shirt that day.....of course! The shirt shows the U.S. Army's OV-1 Mohawk surveillance aircraft. Mark repaired avionics on the aircraft to "keep em' flying" over the skies of Vietnam back in 1968 and 69. |
