The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Friday, July 24, 2015:    More warbirds on the apron.  A Boeing B-17 on the left and a North American P-51 Mustang from the Tuskegee Airmen group in World War II.

Yes, the Oshkosh airfield was busy with military hardware from WWII and the present.  A Harrier Jump Jet was there to awe the crowds.

Formations of various aircraft flew over including this group of four biplanes.  Nice to see.  Formation flying is not easy, by the way.

Many beautifully restored aircraft on the ground.

We've come a long way since the Wright brothers first flew in 1903, as shown above in a full sized exhibit at the EAA Museum.

What air show would be complete without J-3 Piper Cubs?  They have been much loved since their introduction in 1938 as a fun private pilot's airplane with just a three or four cylinder engine.  The traditional Cub color is yellow.
Plenty of larger personal aircraft were there as well.  Why walk or drive when you can fly?

Mark decided to try on a National Atmospheric and Space Administration space suit.  it fit just fine.  He wanted to know when the next flight is.
The man on the right showed off his flying hobby with his hat.  It included a wind direction and wind speed indicator.

Then there was the one man band.  Jerry had some medical problems, but got a new lease on life to return to Oshkosh for at least another year.

He harkens back to the days of Ford Model A cars.

Amateur Radio Special Event Station W9ZL was on the air at AirVenture.  Mark is a ham with the call sign W0MH.  Station control operator on the right was Roy Hinz, KC9VLP.  Mark called CQ and logged a total of nine stations, mostly near the east coast...New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, and one in Texas.  Learn more at http://www.arrl.org/
Lead-foot Paula thinks she would like a Ford Hot Wheels.  One was shown at the Ford pavilion.

Paula claims she drives fast because of a birth defect.  Her right foot is twice as heavy as her left foot.

Mark thinks she should have a "woody" so she doesn't exceed the speed limit....again!

Quote of the day:    Wonderful being at Oshkosh.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
