Saturday, March 14, 2015: Mark and Paula stopped at the Last Turn Saloon in Brainerd for some lunch. It was corned beef and cabbage in preparation for the St. Patrick's day parade that day. Mark wore his green Irish hat. They shared a mug of green beer. |
Then it was out on the street to see
how people were dressing for the parade. Some really took the
Irish look to heart. |
Young ladies were trying to outdo each
other in their dress that day. No end of imagination including
green mustaches. |
Then the parade started with the
American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars color guard holding their
flags high. They were followed by Irish flags. Very fitting for the day. |
|
A vintage 1919 fire engine from the
Brainerd Fire Department was there along with some interesting looking
characters. |
|
The Loyal Order of the Grand Elbow was
there too. Does anyone know what they do? |
|
One interesting entry from Waste
Management was a motorized trash dumpster. Very creative thinking! Horses were an attraction for young children. |
Quote of the day: Everyone wants to be Irish on this day. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
