Monday, December 31, 2012: 

New Years Eve.
 
Mark and Paula went for a 50 minute walk on Gilbert Lake late in the afternoon.

Along the way, they came across three fish houses and several snow angels. 

Other markings looked a bit like crop circles, but they knew better.....maybe!
 
There is a skating and hockey rink on the ice near the island.

Great fun in 7 degree weather.

Fortunately there was very little wind.
 
Some kind person plowed a trail on the lake for skaters and walkers. 

Yes, this was the last sunset of 2012.
 
Fine wine and friends go together.
 
Karen Engen stopped over to ring in the new year with Mark and Paula.

Always good to see Karen.  She is a fun person.

The temperature dropped to 10 degrees below zero at midnight and was 16 below zero by morning.

Mark said it would be a cold day before 2013 arrived!
Tip of the day:  To avoid morning hangovers, use only fresh ice in drinks.  Stale ice is the real cause of hangovers.
