         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons
Sunday, December 18, 2011:   Paula decided to try ice skating on Gilbert Lake in the afternoon.  She has skated on and off since she was a kid. 
Standing on the ice near shore, Paula could see the bottom.  The ice was about four inches thick and had large cracks.  This gave her and Mark a somewhat uneasy feeling. 
Undaunted, Paula ventured out on the lake and discovered she is not as good at skating as she had been when she was a younger person.

Later in the day, Mark headed to the assisted living facility where his mom June stays.  He donned a Santa hat and read the poem, Twas the Night Before Christmas.  It is also known as A Visit from St. Nicholas. 

June loved it.
