Saturday, August 13, 2011: Mark and Paula attended the Show Days at Paul Bunyan Land east of Brainerd along Highway 18. There was plenty to see from time gone by like this tractor. |
An authentic sawmill drew crowds while cutting trees into boards. The weather was great too. |
Power for the mill came from a steam engine, which was kept in good running condition by a steam engineer. |
Ian Lowe and Jeremy Knipple were proud of their blacksmithing skills. The fashioned all manner of iron items from nails to horse shoes stamped with people's names. Jeremy is a regular at this kind of public event. Ian was visiting here from Pontefratt, England. |
Dead-Eye Paula shot a muzzle-loading musket from the early 1800's. Yes, that's right, hold your ears while this very loud weapon is fired. She got the clay pigeon that she was aiming at too! |
There was a linotype demonstration too. This machine made lead type for newspaper printing presses fifty years ago. |
Paula is always a good friend to animals wherever she goes. |
When it was time to leave, Paula wanted to to in this recreation of a 1903 International truck. Sorry, Paula! |
Quote of the day: A fun event for a lot of people. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
