The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Monday, May 30, 2011:  It was Memorial Day in the United States.  People, including this soldier with great resolve, gathered to honor fallen heroes.

This honor guard flag parade took place on the Laurel Street bridge over the Mississippi River in Brainerd.  There was a 21-gun salute as well.

A bugler played taps while others held a hand over their heart.  The lady is holding a wreath, which was then thrown into the river in honor of those who died at sea.

Additional Memorial Day ceremonies were held at Nisswa American Legion Post 627.  One of those helping park cars for the event was Bob Gronau of East Gull Lake.  Bob is a 20+ year veteran of our armed services.

Part of the proceedings included music by the Grace Singers.

Quote of the day:  Memorial Day is an important remembrance of those who died for our freedom.  Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
