Monday, May 30, 2011: It was Memorial Day in the United States. People, including this soldier with great resolve, gathered to honor fallen heroes. |
This honor guard flag parade took place on the Laurel Street bridge over the Mississippi River in Brainerd. There was a 21-gun salute as well. |
A bugler played taps while others held a hand over their heart. The lady is holding a wreath, which was then thrown into the river in honor of those who died at sea. |
Additional Memorial Day ceremonies were held at Nisswa American Legion Post 627. One of those helping park cars for the event was Bob Gronau of East Gull Lake. Bob is a 20+ year veteran of our armed services. |
Part of the proceedings included music by the Grace Singers. |
Quote of the day: Memorial Day is an important remembrance of those who died for our freedom. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
